Disputed outcome of the Iranian elections has become a staple diet for the world media ever since its announcement. Media is flushed with stories regarding social media spreading Iranian defiance online against the results. Many believe that right-wing Israeli interests are engaged in all out Twitter attack with hopes of delegitimizing the Iranian election and causing instability within Iran. Before Twitter takes the laurel for manning the battlefront aiming to voice resentment against the verdict, our CJ took a quick analysis of a handful of people, accounting for 30,000 Iran related tweets in the past few days and stumbled upon these alarming facts:
1. They created their twitter accounts on Saturday June 13th.
2. Each had extremely high number of Tweets since creating their profiles.
3. “Iran Election” was each of their most popular keyword.
4. With some very small exceptions, each was posting in ENGLISH.
5. Half of them had the exact same profile photo.
6. Each had thousands of followers, with only a few friends. Most of their friends were EACH OTHER.
I watched in horror at what is happening to the unarmed protestors on the streets and it was terrible.
No outside influence can cause these things to happen, its internal and its up to the Iranian people themselves to change it.
I wish them all the best in their struggle - the world is watching.
As usual the western media is focusing on pro-western parties and picturing the other party as criminals.
I believe a democratic Iran is a bonus to world, also I think a democratic Iran is not necessarily a pro-western country!.
Some thing is horribly wrong in that country for its people to react so strongly.
I have had an interest in Iran for some time and signed many partitions to stop the barbaric stoning of women and the execution of minors.
It seems very clear to me that the younger Iranians want want to move forward into the 21st century.
